No More Ferries To Sri Lanka

Planning to go to Sri Lanka from India? Well, stop looking for overland travel options – there is no bridge, no more ferries to Sri Lanka. The last ferry service ran back in 2011 and there hasn’t been any new schedules since.

To get to Sri Lanka from India, the cheapest option is to fly from Madurai. This is a well-connected city by train and bus and there are many places in the surrounding region that are well-worth the visit.

I took Mihin Lanka IXM>CMB, which cost around 10,000 INR return. It’s not cheap, BUT you can follow my itinerary and see Sri Lanka in six days for under $100. I promise you lots of adventure and beautiful memories to keep forever.
